Early life and education
Allamah Syed Jawad Naqvi was born in 1963 in Thipra Syedan in Haripur Hazara District Pakistan and he is a well known Shia Muslim scholar from Pakistan. He follows the Twelver Shia belief and he has three PhDs in Philosophy, Sociology and Islamic Law. He spent more than 30 years in Iran studying and teaching Islam and his most famous teacher was Ayatollah Abdollah Javadi-Amoli.
Responsibilities
Allamah Syed Jawad Naqvi is the Chancellor of Jamia Urwa-tul-Wusqa Islamic University in Lahore and also manage many other Islamic schools and universities such as Howza Ilmeya Jamia Jafria in Gujranwala and Ummul Kitaab Ladies Islamic University in Lahore. He also runs an online Islamic university called Deen-ul-Qayyim and the Siraat Education Schooling System.
Syed Jawad Naqvi is famous for his unique way of teaching Islam because he promotes Islam-e-Naab and does not follow the traditional Shia way of criticizing Sunni. He focuses on unity and applying Islam in today's world instead of just looking at the past.
Naqvi is also the founder of the monthly magazine Masharab-e-Naab. His lectures and speeches always look good from other Urdu speaking Muslim scholars.
He strongly supports the Islamic Revolution of Iran and talks about Wilayat-e-Fiqh in his speeches and presenting these ideas in a unique style.
Allamah Naqvi is also known as a representative of Wilayat-e-Faqih in Pakistan and he has given more than 12000 lectures on different topics including Wilayat-e-Faqih.
Foreign Policy About Jawad Naqvi
In January 2020 Foreign Policy which is a U.S. news publication said him as a “Major supporter of Iran’s theocracy”.
Allamah Syed Jawad Naqvi said that he does not receive any support from Iran and at the opening of Jamia Urwa-tul-Wusqa he said that this project is fully funded by people in Pakistan. He also said that none of his work is supported by Iran or any other country and no money comes from outside Pakistan.
Mohammadi Masjid conflict
When police stopped the security of Jawad Naqvi from entering the Mohammadi Masjid in 2013. This is the reason for protests outside the mosque. Reports also said that one of his security guards had an unlicensed weapon and police said that students of naqvi threw stones at the cameraman and the institution of Naqvi condemned the police action.
After this incident Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif banned Naqvi from giving lectures at Mohammadi Masjid in Lahore.
