Dr Tahir Ul Qadri is the one of the most influential scholars in Pakistan who have submitted the more than 6000 lectures and he is also the author of more than 1000 books in different languages Urdu, English and Arabic from which 450 published.
Education and Early Life
Muhammad Tahir ul Qadri was born on 19 February 1951 in the Jhang district of Pakistan. The Family of the Tahir ul Qadri was the Muslim family and his father was a great islamic scholar whose name is Dr Farid-ud-Din Qadri and was also a professional medical doctor.
Tahir ul Qadri got the complete education of world education and the Deen education at his young age. The teacher of Tahir Ul Qadri was Tahir Allauddin Al-Qadri Al-Gillani. From the university of Punjab he got the degree of MA in Islamic study and then completed the phD in islamic law and then he became the lecturer and then Professor of law there.
Islamic scholarship of Tahir ul Qadri
Dr. Tahir ul Qadri has obtained a lot of Islamic knowledge and all the people see him as an expert in Islamic law especially in the Hanafi. He also has written many books and gives lectures and written academic papers to explain difficult legal topics to help the Muslims today's problems.
One important thing is that Dr. Qadri has explained how Islamic law can fit into modern life. He believes Islamic rules should be understandable in an easy way that matches ew changes in our society. Many Muslims like his modern way of thinking because it helps them follow Islam in today's modern world.
Dr. Qadri also works hard to spread peace in Islam and he strongly speaks against terrorism and He teaches that Islam is all about the perfect way of life. In his writings he fights against wrong ideas about the Muslims.
Minhaj-ul-Quran International
The vision of Dr Tahir ul Qadri is beyond simple education. He is also very famous for his contributions in the fields of education and Humanitarians. He founded a nongovernmental organisation Minhaj Al Quran in 1980. His organisation's goal is to promote peace, interfaith dialogue and social welfare. The Minhaj ul Quran has branches more than in 90 countries and under his leadership it has become now a global movement.
Minhaj Ul Quran also has a university in Lahore whose name is Minhaj University Lahore; it was started in 1869 and they offer postgraduate and undergraduate courses in different studies such as Islamic studies, law, and social sciences. Tahir ul Qadri made the university as the centre of the Islamic education which combines both traditional education and modern education.
Political Career of Dr Tahir ul Qadri
In 1989 Dr Tahir ul Qadri founded the Pakistan Awami Tehreek and the main goal of the Tehreek was to bring peace for the common peoples, respect the human rights and make the standard education initiatives for everyone in Pakistan.
The members of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek participated in the general elections in 1990 while Tahir ul Qadri in his constituency was selected as the member of national assembly. However on 29 November 2004 Dr Tahir ul Qadri left the National Assembly because of President Pervez Musharraf's counter-terrorism policies of that time.
2012 March of Tahir ul Qadri
Tahir ul Qadri gave the deadline to the government to improve the situation on 10 January 2012 or face a long march in Islamabad then he announced a million-man march to protest against government corruption.
On 1 January 2013 Tahir Ul Qadri along with Altaf Hussain who was the leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) promised to turn Islamabad into Tahrir Square on 14 January.
Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League criticised Tahir ul Qadri and called them a foreign agenda and Many top politicians.
On 17 June 2014 a big clash between the Punjab Police and Pakistan Awami Tehreek supporters. Police try to remove barriers from Tahir ul Qadri house and where 14 protesters, including women were killed by police fire and many others got injured.
March against Imran khan
At the end of September 2014 Pakistan Awami Tehreek started the Inqilab March with protests in Islamabad. This was done alongside Imran Khan who is the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf who organised the 2014 Azadi March.
Both marches took different routes but had similar goals. However the two parties used different plans and strategies to achieve their goals.
The protests remained for 126 days during the government of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.
Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri remained an important person in Pakistani politics for a long time but he announced his retirement from politics on 14 September 2019.
