Surah Maidah is the 5th chapter of the Quran and this is the Madni surah because it was revealed in Medina and this surah has 120 verses. The name of the surah "The Table Spread" comes from the story of Hazrat Issa A.S disciples asking Allah for a table of food from heaven which is mentioned in verses 112–115.
This surah talks about rules, good behavior and the promise between Allah and His followers and it starts by reminding people to keep their promises and be fair in all actions.
It also gives clear rules about food like what is halal and what is not haram. Foods like dead animals, blood, pork and animals sacrificed to other than Allah are forbidden.
The surah also teaches the importance of being fair even if it is hard or involves yourself or family and it also encourages honesty and justice in every decision.
